About this yarn
Pure alpaca is an exquisite, substantially sourced 100% superfine baby alpaca yarn celebrated for it's buttery-soft feel, luxurious handle, and elegant drape. Unlike Soft DK, which relies on Merino wool for springy structure, Pure Alpaca is sourced entirely from the very first shearing of South American alpacas. This gives it an intensely smooth texture, a subtle natural sheen and a romantic, diffused halo.
What is it like to work with?
Working with Rowan pure Alpaca is a luxurious, silk-like experience that feels distinctly different from working with standard sheep's wool. Because it is 100% superfine baby alpaca, it completely lacks the springy "crimped"elasticity of wool, replacing it with an incredibly smooth, frictionless glide.
What's it best for?
It is best for luxurious next-to-skin cold weather accessories and fluid, relaxed-fit garments that rely on a soft, elegant drape rather that rigid structure.
